A HPD K9 Belgian Malinois named "Robbie" climbed over a Blood Hound named "Annie" to get to their caretaker Paul Vargas (middle) while attending the "River Street Block Party" held on Saturday in Chinatown. Sitting with Vargas was Clerie Silva (left) and Jerry Andrade. Vargas and Silva are members of the HPD Specialized Services Division with K9s and brought the dogs to the block party to share with the public. The Belgian Malinois is trained to detect explosives and the Bloodhound is used to locate missing persons and fugitives.

Ellen Schneider volunteered at the Friends of the Library of Hawaii tent during the "River Street Block Party" held on Saturday along Sun Yat Sen Walk in Chinatown. Schneider was a children's librarian for 40 years before retiring and still loves children's books the best.
