Ono Cheese Steak is cooking at Kaneohe’s Windward Mall
Ono Cheese Steak staged its grand opening at Windward Mall in Kaneohe with a blessing yesterday morning after a soft-opening Wednesday, when the mall’s weekly farmers market boosted foot traffic and sales for the Paina Food Court’s newest tenant.
It is the sister-restaurant to the always-open location at 2310 Kuhio Ave. in Waikiki and offers new menu items not yet available at the older store including sliders, chicken wings, milkshakes and sweet potato fries, said co-owner Valerie Garcia. The items will be added to the Waikiki store after a pending facelift.

The Windward Mall Ono Cheese Steak opens at 9:30 a.m., earlier than most mall stores, and offers a choice of breakfast sandwiches, served with coffee.
The quick-service restaurant is one of two owned by L&V Enterprises LLC, comprising Valerie and Kit Garcia and Lani and Jose Castaneda, though its sandwiches are available in 80 locations including Aloha Gas Inc.’s Island Mini Marts, Tesoro, Union 76 and Chevron stations and on military bases.
The opening of Ono Cheese Steak at the mall entrance next to IHOP has the food court 100 percent occupied, said Alex Kirley, Windward Mall marketing manager.
