NFL investigates Jets over comments about reporter
The NFL is investigating the New York Jets for the way their players and coaches carried on when they were visited by a female reporter from a Mexican TV network during the team’s practice Saturday.
Ines Sainz, of Mexico’s TV Azteca, said on her Twitter account Saturday that she felt "very uncomfortable!" in the Jets’ locker room, where a few players let loose with some "Whooo-weee!" catcalls as she waited with two male co-workers to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez.
"Of course you feel it when you are being stared at and when you are being spoken of in a certain way," Sainz said. "I opted to ignore it."
Stafford to visit surgeon
Matthew Stafford will visit renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews today or tomorrow in Birmingham, Ala., to get a second opinion on his injured right (throwing) shoulder, a person familiar with the injury told the Detroit Free Press.
Stafford and Lions coach Jim Schwartz were intentionally vague about the injury. ESPN reported that Stafford had a second-degree separated shoulder. Such an injury could mean a week or two, at least, on the sideline.

Cutting out middle man
San Francisco 49ers coach Mike Singletary said yesterday offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye could be on the sideline rather than in the coaching booth next week when the team faces the New Orleans Saints.
Calls took so long Sunday, especially in pivotal red-zone situations, that quarterback Alex Smith had to burn through three timeouts before midway through the second quarter.
