Maui Invitational hosts coaches clinics

Chaminade and the EA Sports Maui Invitational will hold basketball clinics for school and community coaches.

The clinics will be held: Sept. 22 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Kapolei High School; Sept. 23 from 5 to 9 p.m. at McKinley High School; and Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kamehameha-Maui.

Dave Odom (former Wake Forest and South Carolina coach), Jim Harrick (former UCLA, Pepperdine and Georgia Coach), Pete Gillen (former Virginia, Providence and Xavier coach) and Matt Mahar (current Chaminade coach) are among the coaches scheduled to run the clinics.

The Maui Invitational will run Nov. 22-24, with UConn, Kentucky, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Virginia, Washington, Wichita State and Chaminade rounding out the field.

Swing for Wishes golf fundraiser set

The fourth annual Swing for Wishes golf fundraiser will be held Oct. 14 at he Hawaii Prince Golf Club.

The event is sponsored by the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa and the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Hawaii.

Registration is $749 for a team of three or $249 for individuals.

Proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which strives to make dreams come true for young people diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.
