A field of 35, including defending champion Kevin Hayashi and Champions Tour player Dave Eichelberger, are in the Aloha Section PGA Professional and Stroke Play Championships next week.

The tournaments run concurrently Tuesday and Wednesday at Honolulu Country Club. Golfers go out at 11 a.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Stroke Play Championship winner gets a spot in January’s Sony Open in Hawaii.

All 35 players are eligible for that, but just 18 are eligible to qualify for the 2011 PGA Professional National Championship, next June at Hershey Country Club.

Hayashi, a pro at Hilo Municipal, has won three of the last four Stroke Play Championship titles and five overall.

He defeated Kevin Carll in a playoff last year. John Lynch, who was third last year, captured the 2008 title and has won three overall. Tad Makalena won the inaugural Stroke Play Championship in 1960.

Hilo Muni’s Lance Taketa will defend his senior title.
