Hawaii up to No. 5 in volleyball poll
The Hawaii women’s volleyball team will open up Western Athletic Conference play later this week with a new ranking. The Rainbow Wahine (10-1) moved up a spot to No. 5 in today’s AVCA Coaches Top 25.
The top four spots remained unchanged led by Stanford (9-0) which received 59 of the 60 first-place votes. Penn State (10-1) was at No. 2 with the remaining vote, followed by Florida (8-1) and Nebraska (10-1). USC (10-0) moved up a spot to No. 6 and Washinton (11-0) and Cal (10-0) both moved up two spots, the Huskies to No. 8 and the Golden Bears to No. 9.
Rounding out the top 10 is former No. 5 Illinois (8-2), which dropped to No. 10. Former No. 8 Texas (6-4) fell out of the top 10, ranked No. 12.
