Hawaii’s jobless rate unchanged at 6.4%
Hawaii’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate was unchanged over the previous month at 6.4 percent in August.
That’s significantly lower than the 9.6 percent national seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which was one percentage point higher than the previous month, according to statistics released today by the state Department of Labor and Industrial Relations.
There were 594,200 employed and 40,900 jobless in August. The total seasonally adjusted work force was 635,100.
“Hawaii’s unemployment rate continues to hold steady at significantly lower rates this year as compared to last,” said Pearl Imada Iboshi, DLIR director.
Approximately 2,000 more people in Hawaii are employed this year compared to last year, she said.
