Kiaaina, Stubblefield, 2 others tied
Seniors Ron Kiaaina and Larry Stubblefield are part of a four-way tie for first place after the first round of the Aloha Section PGA Championship yesterday at Honolulu Country Club.
Kiaaina and Stubblefield joined Pukalani’s Matt Pakkala and Navy Marine Golf Course’s Simon Carpio at the top after shooting rounds of 2-under-par 70. Stubblefield is a member of the Hawaii Golf Hall of Fame.
Eight golfers are within three shots of the lead, including defending champion Kevin Hayashi (72) and Champions Tour player Dave Eichelberger (73).
The final round is today, with golfers going out starting at 7:30 a.m. The winner earns a place in the 2011 Sony Open in Hawaii.
Bezhani leads Seasiders to victory
Viktor Bezhani scored in the 93rd minute to give Brigham Young-Hawaii a 2-1 overtime victory over Chaminade in a Pacific West Conference men’s soccer match yesterday in Laie.
Bezhani also scored in the 84th minute to tie the game at 1 for the Seasiders (2-2, 1-1 PacWest).

Both of Bezhani’s goals were on penalty kicks after fouls by the Silverswords (1-3, 0-2).
Kyle Suan put Chaminade ahead 1-0 in the 26th minute.
BYUH women rout Chaminade
Six different players scored for Brigham Young-Hawaii in a 6-0 women’s soccer romp over Chaminade in Laie.
Natasha Aiono, Lauran Wang, Kim Micheletti, Kaci McNeil, Chloe Ence and Kassy McDaniel all put the ball in the net for the Seasiders (3-0-1, 2-0 PacWest).
The Silverswords dropped to 0-4 and 0-2.
