The Scouting program in the Pacific Basin is thriving, with close to 10,000 young men and women participating. Along with acquiring skills and earning merit badges, Scouts in the Pacific learn from local experts the ways of their ancestors, including basket-weaving, snaring a pig, simple navigation techniques and cooking. Scouts also learn languages and local legends.
