‘Journey’ sequel to film in Hawaii
Another big-studio movie project is apparently on its way to film in Hawaii.
The sequel to "Journey to the Center of the Earth," "Journey 2: Mysterious Island" reportedly will start shooting later this month on Oahu. While director Brad Peyton ("Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore") has been confirmed to be attached to the project, reports are that lead star Brendan Fraser will not return for the sequel.
According to an e-mail sent Thursday by the Hawaii Actors Network to its members, Michael Caine and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be part of the cast.
The e-mail also announced an open casting call for "island people," "island kids" and "100+ tourists" happening today from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the downtown office of Anna Fishburn Casting. Another call, for Screen Actors Guild members only, is scheduled from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The announcement also read that extras will be needed at the Oahu location for Oct. 25-27.
The casting office is located at 1121 Nuuanu Ave. No. 200, above Indigo restaurant.
