State rescinds Kalaeloa Raceway eviction notice
The state Department of Hawaiian Home Lands has rescinded an eviction notice it sent to Kalaeloa Raceway Park, a DHHL official said.
The department rescinded the notice about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, said Kamanao Mills, a DHHL special assistant.
“It was basically a matter of miscommunication,” Mills said.
“We will be meeting with (raceway officials) to discuss the matter further,” he said. He did not know if a date has been scheduled.
Raceway park officials said they had received a 30-day notice of eviction from the Department of Hawaiian Home Lands on Wednesday.
In August, the racing park was given the go-ahead by the agency to open, officials said.
