Maybe we’ll be seeing Hawaii Superferry again
When all the conflict over the Hawaii Superferry was raging, a common thread in the opposition was that the entity with the greatest to gain by its use was the Army, in its interisland mobilizations.
Maybe the military’s not out of the picture, after all. A spokesman for the U.S. Maritime Administration, which now owns the Alakai and Huakai, hinted at a possible deal with the Navy. So could the two Superferry vessels be plying Hawaiian waters again? Stranger things have happened in this very strange saga.
OK, we gotta admit, UM’s marching band did well
The University of Hawaii had the history, having performed the theme to "Hawaii Five-0" longer than any college band in the country until June Jones ditched it.
But the University of Maryland had all the right moves in winning the $25,000 first prize in CBS’ "Hawaii Five-0" Marching Band Mania promotion.
In its rousing rendition, the Mighty Sound of Maryland spells out "HAWAII FIVE-0," then morphs into a Hokusai-like wave before forming the big-finish "BOOK EM DANNO."
