The Alec & Belle Waterhouse Lecture Series is inviting women of all ages to a free conference, "Hope Rising," featuring author Kim Meeder next week at Waialae Baptist Church.
The conference takes place Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.; and next Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Complimentary continental breakfast and lunch will be provided with reservations.
Meeder and her husband founded Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch, an Oregon nonprofit that has rescued more than 300 abused and neglected horses. Thousands of disadvantaged children who visit the ranch get to ride them, a release said.
Meeder’s first book, "Hope Rising," resulted in the ranch winning the national Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for community service. Her second book, "A Bridge Called Hope," has helped the Meeders start new ministries and encouraged the growth of over 118 like ranches all over the world. Meeder recently released her third book, "Blind Hope."
