About three acres of brush burned early this morning in the area around Kapaa Middle School on Kauai, officials said.
No one was injured and no structures were threatened.
The fire broke out at around 11 p.m. last night below the Olohena and Kaapuni Road intersection.
Kauai firefighters had the blaze under control around 12:31 a.m. today and fully extinguished at 1:15 a.m.
The cause of the fire was unknown.
Following recent brush fires, Kauai fire officials today urged people not to:
>> Throw lighted cigarettes out of car windows.
>> Park on dry grass.
>> Leave fires unattended.
