Man dies after pulled from waters off Marine base
A man in his 30s died Tuesday after he was found unconscious in the water off Marine Corps Base Hawaii in Kaneohe.
Before the incident, he was seen in a fenced-off area with “no trespassing” signs near the base entrance along H-3 Freeway, said Marine Maj. Alan Crouch. He was seen with a pole attached to a fishing net and somehow ended up in the water about 5:40 p.m., Crouch said.
Military police brought the man to shore, and a federal fire ambulance took him in an unresponsive state to Castle Medical Center, Crouch said.
Police said the man later died.
The man did not carry identification, and it is unknown if he is a service member.
