The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District said it awarded 685 contracts during fiscal year 2010 totaling $272.6 million, including more than $147 million to small-business firms.

The Corps of Engineers said significant contracts included:

» $8 million for parking apron and taxiways, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, awarded Aug. 26 to Watts Contractors LLC, Honolulu.

» $15.4 million for a tactical equipment maintenance facility, Helemano Military Reservation, awarded Sept. 17 to LEDCOR Construction Hawaii LLC, Honolulu.

» $9.7 million to repair an electrical unit substation, Tripler Army Medical Center, awarded Sept. 29 to SYSKA/NAN JV, Honolulu.

» $1.8 million for various repairs, Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station, awarded Sept. 30 to Alutiiq-Mele LLC, Honolulu.

» $2.4 million for a Macomb roundabout, Schofield Barracks, awarded Sept. 29 to SUMO-NAN JV II LLC, Honolulu.

Among projects the Army Corps said it worked on in fiscal 2010, which ended Sept. 30, was $21.5 million for architect-engineer services for a command and control facility for the future home of U.S. Army Pacific headquarters at Fort Shafter.

A maile lei ribbon-untying ceremony April 15 marked the opening of a $27 million state-of-the-art, six-story barracks complex at Fort Shafter, the Army said.

In October the Army Corps completed a five-month, $874,733 renovation of Schofield Barracks’ historic white clapboard country-style Soldiers Chapel, a 97-year-old sanctuary that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Army said.
