Inouye is third in succession for the presidency, so five Secret Service agents were inside Sheila’s Diamond Head home and more were outside, she said. What’s more, all guests had to give their Social Security numbers to the security personnel and the home was "swept" by them before the party. "It was really a power trip," Sheila said. THE "Hawaii Five-0" wave travels a long way. Norma Ardila, who handles press and talent relations for Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic, is based in Miami and travels throughout Mexico and South America. She was here for the premiere of "Five-0" at Sunset on the Beach. She set up and moderated a conference call with Al Harrington Oct. 14 with journalists from Brazil, Mexico and Chile. Al was a regular for four years on the original "Five-0" after replacing Gilbert "Zulu" Kauhi, who portrayed Kono Kalakaua. Before that, Al played bad guys on the program until Leonard Freeman chose him to replace Zulu as the character Ben Kokua. The questions from journalists ranged from the launch of the remake to personal stories and anecdotes about the original show. …

MASTER SGT. Mathew Baker and Spec. Sarah Enos, both serving in the Army here, are among 10 current and retired military personnel nominated for the Chevrolet Salutes America’s Heroes award. Baker was nominated by his nine children for his 20 years of Army service, but most of all for being a great example to them and the 45 foster children he and his wife have taken in over the years. Enos was nominated by her husband for consistently placing the needs of others before those of herself. She is the mother of four children, ages 2 to 14, and was given custodial guardianship of a fellow soldier’s teenage daughter for 10 months. She also has been a volunteer to run the community Christmas initiative for less fortunate children.
