Pedestrian critically injured in Pearl City improves

A pedestrian critically injured in Pearl City last night has improved to serious condition at the Queen’s Medical Center.

Police said a Honda Civic heading makai on Kaahumanu Street hit the 65-year-old Waianae man at 7:36 p.m. near Moanalua Road.

The pedestrian was not in a marked crosswalk, police said. The man was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center with two broken legs and internal injuries, police said. He was later upgraded to serious condition.

The Honda driver, a 48-year-old Waipahu man, was not injured.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
