Hawaii robotics teams win Tokyo tournament
An alliance of Waialua High and Waiakea High schools won the VEX Robotics Tournament at the American School in Japan in Tokyo this week, beating teams from as far away as Thailand.
Two teams from Waialua, three teams from Waiakea and one team from Kohala competed against teams from Tokyo, Yokohama, Taiwan and Thailand. Waialua also won the Best Build award.
While in Japan, the Hawaii students are visiting an underwater robotics laboratory in Yokohama as well as cultural sites across the country.
The Pan Pacific VEX Robotics Championships will be held Dec. 3-5 at the Hawaii Convention Center.
