A 33-year-old Kalihi man was charged today for allegedly trying to rob his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint last month.

Roger P. Whitmarsh was charged at 4:30 p.m. today with first-degree robbery, kidnapping, and two counts of use of a firearm. He is being held on $75,000 bail.

Detectives had been looking for Whitmarsh since last month and arrested him on Kaili Street in Kalihi about 1:30 a.m. Monday.

His 30-year-old ex-girlfriend told police she was at a neighbor’s home on Oct. 19 when Whitmarsh entered and demanded money, police said. He got upset when she said she didn’t have any money and threatened her with a handgun, police said.

When he was told police were coming, Whitmarsh allegedly hit the woman on the back of the head with the gun and ran away without any money.
