A 33-year-old Kalihi man who allegedly tried to rob his ex-girlfriend at gunpoint last month is in jail today.

Police said officers had been looking for the suspect since last month and arrested the man in Kalihi early yesterday morning on kidnapping, robbery and firearms violations.

His 30-year-old ex-girlfriend said she was at a neighbor’s home on Oct. 19 when the man entered, demanding money, police said. He got upset when she said she didn’t have any money and allegedly threatened her with a handgun.

When he was told police were coming, the suspect hit the woman on the back of her head with the gun and ran away without any money, police said.
