Suspect sought in Kalihi robbery

Police are searching for a man who robbed a gasoline station/convenience store in Kalihi on Sunday night.

The man entered the Dillingham Boulevard store at about 5:55 p.m. and told the cashier that he wanted to purchase cigarettes. When the cashier turned around to grab the cigarettes from the rack, the robber brandished a firearm and demanded money, police said. The man, described as being in his 50s, fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

It was the second robbery of a Kalihi convenience store in three days. Four teenage males were arrested Friday morning following the robbery of a Middle Street minimart. In that incident the four teens assaulted a female clerk, 55, before fleeing with money and merchandise.
