A toddler died after being struck today by a sport utility vehicle in a driveway on Maui.

Sophia Vermey, who was 1 year and 10 months old, died from her injuries at Maui Memorial Hospital.

Police Lt. Barry Aoki said a 32-year-old woman was driving the vehicle on a driveway at 95 Hui Road F in Napili, when the incident occurred at 11:25 a.m. today.

Aoki said the driveway is shared by people living in multiple residences.

No one was arrested, according to Lahaina police.

The pedestrian fatality was the 13th in 2010, compared to 20 for the same period last year.
