Police arrest woman who hit designated driver

Police yesterday arrested a 22-year-old Mililani woman accused of assaulting an acquaintance who took away her car keys after suspecting she was drunk.

The incident took place about 1 a.m. Sept. 5 on the Haleiwa side of Kaena Point, police said. The suspect had been drinking and assaulted the victim after she refused to give the suspect’s car keys back to her. The victim, 20, was the designated driver for the outing, police said.

The suspect was released pending investigation.

It was not immediately clear why the arrest took place three months after the alleged incident.
