3 held in late-night drive-in fracas

Three men were arrested following assaults on three people at a Kalihi drive-in restaurant around 2:25 a.m. Sunday morning.

A 38-year-old man was assaulted by a 22-year-old man as the first man came to the aid of a 30-year-old woman who had been called a derogatory name, police said.

A 31-year-old man coming to the aid of the man being assaulted was then himself assaulted by two other men, ages 29 and 26, police said.

The female victim then ran to her car and retrieved a weapon that she used to threaten the three suspects, police said. The weapon was described as hand-held, although not a gun.

The woman then ran back to her car and the first attacker assaulted her through an open window, police said.

Police located the three men a short distance away, at Palamea and Long lanes, where they were arrested. The 29-year-old man is from Mililani.

The two others have Kalihi addresses.

All three were released pending investigation.
