Kuhio Avenue was reopened this afternoon, about 12 hours after an 8-inch water main break forced police to close part of the Waikiki roadway.

A Board of Water Supply spokeswoman said the repairs were completed and crews were off the road by 2:15 p.m. today.

The 41-year-old water main broke about 1:50 p.m. yesterday at the intersection of Namahana Street and Kuhio Avenue, closing the Ewa-bound lanes and at times, the Diamond Head-bound lanes as well.
