Poipu Bay greens ready for action

Poipu, Kauai » Golfers will be back on the Poipu Bay Golf Course Thursday when the course reopens following a nine-month greens refurbishment project.

The course was closed in April while Seashore Paspalum, a warm-season turf that requires less water and chemicals, was installed. Bunkers and tee boxes also underwent improvements.

 

Kids get free trip to see Moby Dick

Kids can tag along for free when the Star of Honolulu sets sail Wednesday on its first whale-watching cruise of the season. One child per paid adult can sail for no charge.

The 2 1/2 -hour cruise, which runs daily through May 8, departs from Aloha Tower Marketplace and cruises beyond Diamond Head.

The cruise includes narration, handouts, a video presentation and educational and cultural activities, including lei making, ukulele and hula lessons.

Kamaaina and military prices are $44.31 for adults and $26.66 for keiki (ages 3-11).

An Early Bird Whale Watch is offered from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. for a discounted price. On Maui the Spirit of Lahaina’s Whale Watch Eco-Adventure Cruise sails three times daily.
