Farrington's Kirsten-Marie Liana went up for a shot over Kaiser's Makana Borden and Darcy Goulsby in the second quarter of last night's game.

Only one team could continue its undefeated run.

Brydgette Tatupu-Leopoldo scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half to lead seventh-ranked Farrington over No. 9 Kaiser 64-51 last night at Farrington in an early season showdown between Oahu Interscholastic Association Red East girls basketball powers.

Kaiser held down Tatupu-Leopoldo in the first half, but Kirsten Liana spurred Farrington, scoring all 11 of her points before the break, many on penetrating drives to the basket.

"(Kaiser) was playing a box-and-one on (Brydgette), so it made it harder for her," said Farrington coach Caroline Tatupu. "It just opened it up for the other girls to score, and Kirsten just happened to be the one with the hot hand."

Junior Govs’ post Leilani Mageo-Pacheco also came up big, adding 10 points.

Kiana Nakai and Meleana Adams each scored 12 points to lead Kaiser in the loss.

Farrington stayed unbeaten in the conference.
