Mililani quarterback Trent McKinney has given an oral commitment to the University of Montana.

McKinney engineered one of the state’s most prolific offenses at Mililani, leading the team to an Oahu Interscholastic Association title and a state-tournament berth.

The 6-foot, 175-pound senior passed for 2,277 yards and 25 touchdowns with just six interceptions in 282 pass attempts. He also rushed for 603 yards (5.0 yards per carry) and 14 more touchdowns.

The Trojans averaged nearly 34 points per game.

McKinney also plays on Mililani’s basketball team.

Montana’s recruiting coordinator is former Damien and Oregon State player Inoke Breckterfield. The Grizzlies play in the Big Sky Conference (FCS) and will return 15 starters next fall. They will lose senior quarterback Andre Selle, an all-league honorable mention pick.
