Woman identified as accident victim

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office yesterday identified a pedestrian accident victim and a man whose skeletal remains were found in a stream.

Sylvia Hall, 42, was struck by a Buick sedan in a crosswalk on Farrington Highway near Waianae High School on Nov. 2. She died at Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center of multiple blunt-force injuries, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

The skeletal remains of a man found in Makiki Stream on Sept. 9 have been identified as 51-year-old Hung Phan of Honolulu.

Police said two people stumbled upon the body while fishing in the stream off Makiki Heights Road.

The cause of Phan’s death could not be determined nor could it be classified as either an accident or homicide, the Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Pearl City man arrested in robbery

Police have arrested a 47-year-old Pearl City man in connection with a convenience-store robbery in Kaimuki last month.

A man entered the store about 3:15 p.m. Nov. 24 and demanded money from an employee while brandishing a gun. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was identified, located and arrested at his Nola Street home Tuesday.
