2 hikers safe after search on North Shore
Firefighters searched about two hours last night for two overdue hikers who eventually found their way out of a trail on the North Shore.
At 7:38 p.m., a family member reported the men hadn’t returned from a hike above the Boy Scout camp in Pupukea, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Robert Main.
Firefighters had already started hiking the trail when the men found their way out about 10 p.m. near the Kahuku motorcross track.
A fire truck picked up the fire rescuers after they reached the other end of the trail, Main said.
