Police arrest felon with illegal firearm
A felon with a sawed-off shotgun was arrested yesterday in Waialua.
Officers responding to report of suspicious activity at the Waialua post office about 11:45 p.m. found the man in a vehicle.
As they approached, he reached behind him for an item wrapped in white cloth, police said.
An officer asked what he was reaching for.
The man said a sawed-off shotgun, police said.

Police brought the man out of the vehicle and recovered a sawed-off shotgun wrapped in a white cloth.
A check showed the man, who has no local address, had an outstanding warrant and is a convicted felon prohibited from owning firearms.
Police arrested him on suspicion of several firearm charges.
