Walk-in voting for Council special election ends today

Today is the last day for walk-in voting in the special election for the Leeward Oahu City Council seat vacated by Todd Apo.

People who want to vote in person can do so until 4 p.m. today at Kapolei Hale or Honolulu Hale.

Absentee mail-in ballots must be received by 6 p.m. Wednesday to be counted.

As of today, 10,558 ballots have been received out of 53,753 registered voters in the district, said Glen Takahashi, the elections administrator for the city.

Results will be announced at 6 p.m. Wednesday on the city website, Takahashi said.

The election to fill Apo’s remaining term is being conducted entirely by mail and at the two walk-in early voting sites.

Fourteen candidates filed papers to run in the district which stretches from West Loch to Makaha.
