The alleged driver of a getaway vehicle involved in two Kalihi robberies on Sunday turned himself in to police yesterday.

Police said the robberies occurred at two liquor stores — one in the 3100 block of Nimitz Highway at 7 p.m. Sunday and another 20 minutes later in Kapalama.

In the first robbery, a man pulled a handgun and demanded money before fleeing in a dark-colored SUV.

After detectives identified the alleged driver, he surrendered to police at the main station at 1 p.m. Officers booked the Waianae man for investigation of two counts of first-degree robbery.
