The Honolulu Board of Water Supply is asking residents from Haleiwa to Tutle Bay to use water only for essential purposes while crews repair a leak in a 16-inch water main.

Repairs are expected to continue through the evening.

The leak is near 62-595 Kamehameha Highway.  The 16-inch water main, which delivers water to the reservoirs on the North Shore, will not be in service while crews are making the repair.

Customers are asked to use water for cooking, drinking and personal hygiene only.

Traffic on Kamehameha Highway is closed in both directions at Lokoea Place. Drivers are advised to use Joseph P. Leong Highway until crews remove the water and debris from the roadway.
