Three girls were injured, one critically, in a crash involving an all-terrain vehicle in Kapaau on the Big Island.

A 16-year-old girl was driving the ATV north on Pratt Road near the Maluhia Road intersection when the vehicle flipped at about 1:12 p.m. Thursday, Hawaii County fire officials said. She was taken by emergency personnel to North Kohala Community Hospital in critical condition.

Two passengers also were injured. A girl, 4, was taken to the hospital in serious condition, while another girl, 11, was hospitalized in stable condition.

The three girls are believed to be related, fire officials said.
