Sewer rehabilitation work will close one lane on Kalanianaole Highway in East Oahu for the next six weeks. Insituform Technologies Inc. crews worked on a sewer line yesterday.

Sewer rehabilitation work affecting traffic along Kalanianaole Highway in Aina Haina for the next six weeks began Saturday.

The work is a continuation of the Kalanianaole Highway Sewer Rehabilitation Project that began in August, city officials said.

The rehabilitation work requires the right lane in the Koko Head-bound direction to be closed each weekend until Feb. 13, from 7 p.m. Saturdays to 2 p.m. Sundays.

For the first three weeks, crews will close the Koko Head-bound right lane between Wailupe Beach Park and West Hind Drive.

The next three weeks, the right lane in the Koko Head-bound direction will be closed between West Hind Drive and East Hind Drive.

Depending on traffic volume and conditions, the center lane might be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. for the safety of the work crew.

Work will also continue during normal working hours, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with lane closures along the highway.

An electronic message board has been installed near Wailupe Beach Park to inform motorists.
