UH women’s basketball team falls at Boise State

The Hawaii women’s basketball play remained winless in Western Athletic Conference play after a 69-63 loss at Boise State today in Boise, Idaho.

In a back-and-forth affair, a career-high 18 points from UH freshman Shawna Kuehu and a 22-rebound game from freshman forward Kamilah Jackson wasn’t enough.

Coach Dana Takahara-Dias’ Rainbow Wahine (6-11, 0-4 WAC) lost for the fifth straight time and allowed 37 points from BSU’s Lauren Lenhardt, which tied the Broncos’ school record.

UH dropped its 14th straight WAC road game going back to 2008-09. It was UH’s last trip to BSU in the WAC; the Broncos head for the Mountain West Conference after this season.

UH led 30-29 at halftime but BSU took the lead in the final minutes. No other BSU player besides Lendhardt scored in double figures, but she did more than enough damage on 14-for-20 shooting from the field.

Senior shooting guard Megan Tinnin added 16 points and nine rebounds for UH, while senior point guard Keisha Kanekoa had 14 points and six assists.

The Wahine, in the midst of a stretch of five straight road games, now return home for two days before heading back out for the next three road games.
