A 36-year-old man who escaped from the Laumaka Work Furlough Program two years ago was arrested after he was found sleeping in the restroom at Magic Island today.

Police said David Gonzalez was reported as an escapee 5 p.m. Jan. 15, 2009, when he failed to return from Oahu Community Correctional Center’s work furlough program.

Patrol officers making checks at the park discovered 2:30 a.m. today the man sleeping in the men’s restroom.

He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree escape.
