A single-car crash in Kekaha early this morning left one teenager dead and anther in serious condition, a Kauai county spokeswoman said.  

The accident happened at about 1 a.m. on Kaumualii Highway near Manu Road.  A Toyota pickup truck traveling west crossed the centerline and struck a guard rail on the opposite side of the road, police said. The 17-year-old boy driving the truck was ejected and died at the scene, police said.  

His passenger, another 17-year-old boy, went to Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea. No information was given on his condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
