Hawaii draws UC Davis in ESPNU BracketBusters event
The Hawaii men’s basketball team will face UC Davis in Davis, Callif., on Feb. 19 as part of the ESPNU BracketBusters annual event, the network announced today.
The pairing was not selected as one of 11 nationally televised games among the over 100 mid-major teams in the BracketBusters field.
It is the fifth straight year UH faces a Big West opponent in the event. Long Beach State, UC Riverside, UC Irvine and Cal Poly were the previous four.
UH (12-9, 3-6 Western Athletic Conference) plays the UCD Aggies (8-12, 3-5 Big West) in a stand-alone road trip between home games against Nevada (Feb. 14) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 24).
UH will face Davis in a BracketBusters “return” game in Honolulu sometime next season. The Rainbow Warriors will then face the Aggies annually as part of the Big West Conference starting in the 2012-13 season.
The Rainbow Warriors have participated in BracketBusters every season starting in 2002-03, going 3-5 in those games. That includes a 1-3 record against Big West competition.
