Amateur boxing at Palolo today, tomorrow
Amateur boxers from Oahu, Maui, Molokai and Kauai are scheduled to compete tonight and tomorrow at Palolo District Gym.
Some 13 bouts are scheduled for tonight and 16 to 20 tomorrow. Bouts begin at 6 p.m.

SUP World Tour opens at Sunset on Sunday
Hawaii’s Kai Lenny will start defense of his Stand Up World Paddle Tour at the Sunset Beach Pro, which begins its weeklong competition Sunday.
The Sunset Beach event is the first of eight stops on the tour, which also hits France, Tahiti, Chile, Brazil, California and Australia. The tour concludes with the finals on the Big Island, Dec. 9-18.
Lenny is also the defending champion of the Sunset Beach event.

Aikido celebration coming up
Aikido Celebration 2011 is marking the 50th anniversary of the first and only visit to Hawaii by Aikido founder Sensei Morihei Ueshiba with a seminar and banquet over Presidents’ Day weekend, Feb. 18-21.
Sensei Seijuro Masuda of Japan and Yoshimitsu Yamada from New York, both 8th dans, will be the guest instructors at the seminar at McKinley High. Late registration is $200.
