Lopez confirmed as state consumer affairs director
Kealii Lopez is Hawaii’s new director for the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs following her confirmation by the full Senate.
The Senate unanimously approved of Lopez on Wednesday, making her the third of Gov. Neil Abercrombie’s Cabinet appointees to take office full-time.
Lopez previously led Olelo Community Media.
Two other appointees also advanced toward confirmation Wednesday when the Senate Ways and Means Committee unanimously voted in their favor.
Kalbert Young would become director of the Department of Budget and Finance, and Fred Pablo would become director of the Department of Taxation.
Young was Maui County’s finance chief since 2004, and Pablo previously worked with him as Maui’s budget director.
