Attack on valet brings robbery charge

A 19-year-old suspect was charged Tuesday with robbery after being captured by hotel workers Monday at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa .

Jeffrey Duket, who gave police the address of St. Augustine Church — 130 Ohua Ave. — as his home address, was charged with unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, second-degree robbery, harassment, disorderly conduct, and a drug offense. His bail was set at $25,000.

Police said Duket hid in the back seat of a vehicle and attacked a 39-year-old valet who was retrieving the vehicle for a hotel guest about 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The attacker demanded money but fled when the valet broke free during a struggle, police said. Co-workers responded to the man’s call for help and caught the suspect after he ran across the street to St. Augustine Church, police said.

Suspect charged in attempted heist

Prosecutors filed a robbery charge Tuesday against a 30-year-old Waipahu man who allegedly tried to rob an adult video store in Kaimuki.

Jensen Reese of Awaiki Street demanded money from the employee at Kaimuki Video on Waialae Avenue about 10:30 a.m. Friday, police said.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, a man in his 20s who allegedly pointed a handgun at the woman.
