A 73-year-old Washington man found unconscious and floating face down Monday in waters off the Kohala Coast died Thursday.
Big Island police identified the man as Graham Beaven of Spokane, Wash.
Beaven had been snorkeling at an area known as "Turtle Point."
An unidentified woman swam out to Beaven and brought him ashore, police said. The woman also began attemps to resuscitate him until fire rescue personnel arrived.
Fire rescue personnel transported Beaven in critical condition to North Hawaii Community Hospital.
Beaven was pronounced dead 10:20 a.m. Thursday.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.
