Wie opens at 3-under in Thailand
Hawaii golfer Michelle Wie shot a 3-under 69 today in the first round of the Honda LPGA Thailand.
WIe is tied for sixth with four other golfers, six strokes behind leader I.K. Kim of South Korea on Siam Country Club’s Old Course in Chonburi.
American Juli Inkster and Yani Tseng of Taiwan are tied for second after posting 66s. Catriona Matthew is four back in fourth place and Suzann Pettersen is five off the lead.
Wie went out with a 35 after birdieing No. 2 before an uneven back nine that featured 4 birdies and 2 bogeys. Kim, meanwhile, had a bogey-free first round, with four birdies on the front and five on the back.
Defending champion Ai Miyazato of Japan shot a 3-over 75 and is tied for 44th.
