A Honolulu police officer and a 29-year-old Aiea man were seriously injured in a crash early this morning in McCully.
Police said the Aiea man made a left turn from McCully Street into the path of an oncoming blue and white police car at the intersection of Young Street at 2:11 a.m.
The man’s 1991 Honda Civic and the officer’s 2010 Ford Crown Victoria "sustained heavy damage, over $3,000 in value," said police traffic Sgt. Andrew Berky.
Paramedics took the man to Straub Clinic and Hospital, and the officer went to the Queen’s Medical Center, both in serious condition.
Alcohol appears to be a factor on the part of the Aiea man, Berky said.
