WOMEN’S AIR RIFLERY
» Nevada freshman Haunani Akana (Sacred Hearts ’10) shot a 584 in precision and a 564 in smallbore at the NCAA qualifiers in El Paso, Texas, on Feb. 11 to help the Wolf Pack beat UTEP.
BASEBALL
» Kansas senior left-hander Wally Marciel (‘Iolani ’06) allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings with no walks and two strikeouts in a 7-1 loss to No. 1 TCU on Saturday.
» UNLV junior Danny Higa (Saint Louis ’08) went 4-for-8 with two doubles, a home run, six RBIs and five runs scored in a four-game sweep of Maine over the weekend. Higa, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs on Friday, also drew four walks.
» Cal State Northridge senior Ridge Carpenter (Kalani ’07) finished 5-for-15 with a double, three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in a four-game split against Seattle University over the weekend. Freshman Harley Holt (Kamehameha ’10) made his collegiate debut for the Matadors on Saturday, allowing five hits and two runs in 2 1/3 innings with no walks and two strikeouts.
» Northwestern junior Paul Snieder (Punahou ’08) made two appearances, earning a save and allowing three hits and no runs in three innings with one walk and three strikeouts in the Red Raider Classic that ended on Sunday. Junior Michael Jahns (St. Anthony ’08) also pitched twice, giving up one hit and no runs in three innings as the Wildcats finished the tournament 1-3.
» San Diego junior catcher Zack Kometani (Punahou ’08) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a stolen base and Kalei Hanawahine (Kamehameha ’09) hit an RBI triple in a 3-1 loss to Vanderbilt on Sunday. Kometani hit a two-run double in a 4-3 loss to the Commodores on Saturday and was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run and an RBI in a 7-5 win over Winthrop later that day.

» Loyola Marymount sophomore Zac Fujimoto (Maryknoll ’08) went 4-for-12 with a run scored and two RBIs to help the Lions take three of four games against UC Riverside over the weekend.
» Southern Utah sophomore second baseman D.J. Andrade (Damien ’09) went 2-for-7 with three runs scored and two RBIs, and Chris Chung (Saint Louis ’10) earned a save in a doubleheader sweep of Northern Illinois on Friday.
» St. Peter’s (N.J.) College freshman Kini Enos (Saint Louis ’10) went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in a 3-1 win over Savannah State on Saturday. Enos finished 3-for-5 in the four-game series and gave up a run in 2/3 of an inning for the Peacocks.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
» Willamette (Ore.) junior Taylor Mounts (‘Iolani ’08) finished with 25 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-73 win over Lewis & Clark on Saturday. Mounts, who shot 10-for-16 from the field and 3-for-5 from the 3-point line, is averaging 20.2 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
» Southwestern Oregon freshman Aaron Fernandez (Kalaheo ’10) made five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points and five rebounds in an 83-78 loss to Lane (Ore.) last Wednesday. Marcus Monroe (Moanalua ’10) added two points, three rebounds and an assist for the Lakers.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
» UNLV junior Jamie Smith (‘Iolani ’08) recorded a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in 39 minutes of a 72-60 win over Colorado State on Saturday. Smith had six points and 10 rebounds in a 91-87 loss to Air Force last Wednesday.
» Cal State Northridge sophomore Violet Alama (Kalani ’09) had 14 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals and senior Analee Viena-Lota (Kamehameha ’07) had seven points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals as the Matadors, 4-22 overall, shocked Cal Poly, which was 10-1 in league play, 68-65 on Thursday.
» Concordia (Calif.) senior guard Nicole Fu (Maryknoll ’07) finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 65-60 loss to Biola University on Saturday. Through 24 games, Fu is averaging a team-leading 16.4 points and 6.3 rebounds.
» Gonzaga senior guard Tatriana Lorenzo (Kamehameha ’06) had two points and a steal in 5 minutes of a 93-65 win over Santa Clara on Thursday. Lorenzo has appeared in 23 games and has 15 assists, averaging 6.3 minutes a game for the Zags, who at 24-4, have clinched the West Coast Conference regular-season title.
» Utah sophomore guard Iwalani Rodrigues (Kalani ’08) drilled a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Utes a 61-58 win over New Mexico on Saturday. Rodrigues finished 3-for-10 from the 3-point line and had 11 points, three rebounds and two blocks.
» Massachusetts Institute of Technology sophomore forward Anna Merrifield (Punahou ’09) had four points, eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks in a 52-39 loss to Smith College on Saturday.
» Pacific (Ore.) sophomore Ashley Jacobs (Kailua ’09) had 10 points, five rebounds and a steal in 21 minutes off the bench in a 61-59 overtime victory over Whitworth (Wash.) on Saturday.
» Clackamas (Ore.) sophomore guard Johnnelle Kapua (Mid-Pacific ’09) scored 16 points on 5-for-11 shooting and added five rebounds, two assists and a steal in a 69-50 win over Mt. Hood (Ore.) on Saturday.
WOMEN’S GOLF
» Santa Clara senior Miki Ueoka (Kauai ’07) birdied the final two holes to shoot a 1-over 72 and finish in eighth place at the Peg Barnard Invitational that concluded on Sunday. Broncos junior Tammy Surtees (Hawaii Prep ’08) shot rounds of 78 and 79 to finish in a tie for 32nd place.
» UCLA junior Stephanie Kono (Punahou ’08) shot a final-round 9-over 80 to finish in a tie for second place at 21-over 234 at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge last Wednesday. Furman (S.C.) senior Jackie Hilea (Moanalua ’07) finished in a tie for 55th place at 239.
» Cal State Northridge senior Ashlee Nagamine (La Pietra ’07) took 54th place at The Gold Rush in Yorba Linda, Calif., last Tuesday, posting a 36-over 252.
» James Madison junior Nicole Sakamoto (Kalani ’08) shot an opening-round 76 before closing with a 13-over 85 to finish in a tie for 100th place at the Kiawah Island Classic that finished on Monday.
SOFTBALL
» Mississippi State junior Kaili Smith (Kapolei ’08) earned all-tournament honors at the Bulldog Round-Robin after hitting a home run and driving in all four Bulldogs runs in a 9-4 loss to Southern Illinois in the championship game on Sunday. Smith finished the tournament 5-for-14 with a double, homer, five RBIs and three runs scored as MSU finished 3-1.
» East Carolina freshman catcher Rebecca Lee (Mililani ’10) finished 7-for-14 with five runs, two RBIs and a stolen base to help ECU finish 5-1 in the Pirate Classic over the weekend. Freshman Kristi Oshiro (Mililani ’10) hit leadoff every game and was 5-for-18 with eight runs scored and two stolen bases. Kai Clark (Kapolei ’09) finished 3-for-9 with a double and an RBI.
» Eastern Kentucky senior third baseman Shyenne Hussey (Kailua ’06) went 4-for-12 with three doubles, five walks and four RBIs as the Colonels finished 2-3 in the First Pitch Classic over the weekend. Senior pitcher Noelani Esperas (Kamehameha ’07) appeared in three games, making one start, and allowed four earned runs and nine hits in 10 innings with 11 walks and four strikeouts.
» Southern Oregon sophomore Rayna Strom-Okimoto (Aiea ’09) has started all seven games so far for the Raiders and leads the regulars with a .474 batting average. She has nine hits in 19 at-bats with three home runs and seven RBIs.
» Pacific Lutheran sophomore Glenelle Nitta (Mililani ’09) finished 2-for-8 with two RBIs and Lindsey Matsunaga (Kaimuki ’10) was 1-for-3 with an RBI in four games over the weekend.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING and DIVING
» Fairfield (Conn.) junior Michelle Yoshida (Punahou ’08) won her third consecutive conference title in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.06 seconds at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday. Yoshida set six program records in three days, winning the 100 backstroke on Friday in 55.62, setting a MAAC record. Yoshida was also part of four different relay teams that won events and finished second in the 50 free by .01 seconds. Siena (N.Y.) senior Nicole Hagi (Kapolei ’07) finished seventh in the 1,650 free.
» Lindenwood (Mo.) junior Sarah Billiamosa (Pearl City ’08) finished second in the 400-yard individual medley and 200 butterfly and third in the 200 IM (2:12.74) at the Liberal Arts Championships, Feb. 17-19. Freshman Kiana White (Mililani ’10) placed fourth in the 400 IM (4:46.84) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.97).
» Marist (N.Y.) sophomore Chelaine Eliazar (Punahou ’09) finished in second place at 227.05 in the 1-meter diving event and placed fourth in 3-meter diving at the MAAC championships on Friday.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
» Redlands (Calif.) senior Sara Yoshinaga (‘Iolani ’07) clinched a victory for the Bulldogs with a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles and also won her No. 1 doubles match in a 9-0 rout of Occidental (Calif.) on Sunday.
» Pacific (Ore.) junior Cat Goya (St. Andrew’s Priory ’08) won both singles and doubles matches in a 7-2 win over Puget Sound and a 5-4 loss to Pacific Lutheran on Saturday. Megan Yoshimoto (Mililani ’08) won her singles and doubles matches against the Loggers, and Rachel Mizuno (Mililani ’09) won her No. 3 singles match.
» Portland freshman Gabrielle Gorence (Mid-Pacific ’10) won her No. 6 singles match in straight sets to help the Pilots beat Lewis-Clark State 7-0 on Friday.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
» Long Beach State freshman outside hitter Taylor Crabb (Punahou ’10) tied for the team high with 11 kills, hitting .292 with two aces, three digs, three block assists and a solo block in a three-set sweep of UC San Diego on Friday.
» Southern California senior setter Riley McKibbin (Punahou ’07) posted a double-double with 32 assists and 14 digs and outside hitter Tri Bourne (Academy of the Pacific ’07) had 10 kills in 18 swings, four digs and an ace in a three-set sweep of Stanford on Thursday. Henry Cassiday (Punahou ’10) had two aces, 10 digs and a kill in a match that featured seven players from Hawaii. Stanford senior Spencer McLachlin (Punahou ’07) had a team-high 11 kills and nine digs, Brad Lawson (‘Iolani ’08) had 10 kills and Erik Shoji (Punahou ’08) had a team-high 10 digs for the Cardinal.
» Brigham Young middle blocker Futi Tavana (Kauai ’05) combined for nine kills and 13 block assists as the Cougars split two matches with UC Santa Barbara over the weekend.
» Massachusetts Institute of Technology senior Caine Jette (Maui ’06) had three digs and an ace in the Engineers’ three-set sweep of Lesley University on Saturday to remain undefeated in conference play.
WOMEN’S WATER POLO
» Harvard freshman Shayna Price (Punahou ’10) finished with 15 goals and 11 assists in four games of the Marist Invitational over the weekend, helping the Crimson finish 3-1. Sister Aisha Price (Punahou ’09) tallied six goals and 10 assists.
» Occidental (Calif.) senior Karie Nickle (Kamehameha ’07) had four goals and five assists and sophomore Nanea Fujiyama (Kamehameha ’09) had three goals in a 13-12 overtime victory over Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday. Fujiyama had two goals and Nickle had a goal and two assists in a 10-5 loss to Cal State Northridge later that day.
» Pacific (Calif.) senior utility Dara Tawarahara (‘Iolani ’07) scored two goals in an 8-7 win over Cal Baptist on Saturday and netted one goal against No. 1 Stanford in a 15-4 loss on Sunday.
