$7 greens fees part of Makaha’s celebration

Makaha Resort and Golf Club will offer a $7 greens fees on March 7 to celebrate the reopening of the course’s seventh hole. Makaha will also introduce its renovated golf facilities that day.

The course closed its seventh hole in December 2008 after flood damage. It has had a temporary par 3 in its place.

The green, bunkers and surrounding areas have been restored. Another $500,000 has gone toward a golf shop renovation, 80 new carts, a new irrigation control system, driving range upgrades and the replacement of on-course amenities. Restrooms and front-nine cart paths are also being improved.

Tee times for March 7 can be reserved beginning Monday, by phone only, with each call limited to one time for up to four players. The course also will have a putting contest that day and a long-drive contest on the seventh hole. There will be entertainment, prizes and food and beverage specials.

Makaha Resort will offer a $47 room rate for the nights of March 6 and 7. For tee times, call 695-7520. For toll-free hotel or golf reservations, call 866-576-6447.
