Alex Guthrie had two hits and two RBIs and Bret Dahlson homered to help Loyola Marymount erase a five-run deficit and beat Hawaii 7-5 this afternoon at Page Stadium.
Zack Swasey had two hits to extend his hitting streak to seven games and Sean Montplaisir went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Hawaii (3-5).
The Lions (8-2) trailed 5-0 when they strung together five straight hits with two outs in the sixth. Shon Roe hit a two-run double and Guthrie followed with an RBI double to chase Hawaii starter Matt Sisto after 5 2/3 innings.
Guthrie put the Lions up with a two-out RBI single in the seventh off of Zach Gallagher.
Dahlson added an insurance run with a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the eighth.
Sisto finished the game allowing seven hits and five runs without a walk or a strikeout.
Jason Wheeler (2-0) allowed nine hits and five runs in seven innings with three walks and six strikeouts to earn the win.
Ryan Hawthorne got Kolten Wong to fly out to left-center with the tying run on third in the eighth. Jeff Van Doornum doubled with two outs in the ninth, but Hawthorne got Collin Bennett to ground out to earn his fourth save.
Blair Walters (2-1) allowed a hit and three walks in an inning to take the loss.
The four-game series continues tomorrow at 11 a.m. Hawaii time.
